Staff Therapist and Community Outreach Liaison, Supervised by Kelly Dunn, LCPC
Valerie Trewick, LPC

Valerie (she/her) is a licensed Staff Therapist who sees primarily teens, adults and couples. Her style is trauma-informed and compassionate, and she enjoys bringing collaboration and humor into her sessions. Valerie is passionate about individualizing treatment instead of utilizing a one-size-fits-all approach, and does so by conceptualizing clients in the context of their social identities and environments. She is also committed to providing identity-affirming care to people with any and all backgrounds, especially those with marginalized identities. Valerie aims to provide a space that feels both safe and empowering, while introducing insight and skills as necessary to best promote positive change and sustainable wellbeing in her clients lives.
Valerie is a graduate of Northwestern University’s Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. Prior to graduate school, she earned a BS in Biopsychology, Cognition and Neuroscience from the University of Michigan. During her internship at Chicago Psychotherapy, Valerie completed extensive training in evidence-based approaches to treating Anxiety Disorders, Mood Disorders, OCD, and Trauma-Related Disorders. She also has experience supporting individuals with adjustment-related concerns and chronic stress, and is particularly interested in treating burnout in professionals across the lifespan.
In addition to individual services, Valerie enjoys supporting couples with improving communication and conflict resolution, working through transition periods, and enhancing relationship satisfaction.
