We are passionate about bringing the best available practices to our clients through personalized, evidence-based treatments.
Our team includes Licensed Clinical Providers in Psychology, Social Work, and Counseling, clinical trainees, and support staff.
Trainees receive extensive training in approaches for anxiety, OCD, mood disorders, adjustment concerns, trauma, and ADHD. Our assessment team provides gold-standard testing services.

Clinical Director, Founder
Caroline B. Adelman, PhD
Dr. Caroline Adelman (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and founder of Chicago Psychotherapy. She uses evidence-based practices to help children, teens, and adults overcome anxiety, OCD, depression, relationship issues, and life’s difficult transitions.
Dr. Adelman helps individuals struggling with anxiety, navigating major life changes, or in need of parenting support, using proven therapeutic approaches – including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), Trauma-Focused CBT, Cognitive Behavioral Couples Therapy, and Parent Management Training. Dr. Adelman’s therapeutic approach combines evidence-based treatment methods with warmth and authenticity in her relationships with clients.
As a former Northwestern University faculty member, TEDx speaker, and Student Wellness Director, Dr. Adelman brings both clinical expertise and real-world perspective to help clients build resilience and thrive through uncertainty. Her public speaking, coaching and consulting work focuses on bringing evidence-based wellness strategies and healthy communication practices into the contexts in which people live, learn and work.

Training Director
Ellen Bee, LCPC, PMH-C (she/her)
Ellen Bee is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Chicago Psychotherapy’s Training Director. She helps individuals and families navigate anxiety, OCD, depression, and major life transitions – such as the transition to parenthood, educational transitions, and career changes.
As a first-generation Asian American, Ellen deeply understands the challenges of balancing different cultural expectations, dealing with perfectionism, and managing complex family relationships. She’s also certified in perinatal mental health and works with people adjusting to parenthood and related identity changes.
Ellen also supports gifted individuals and offers leadership coaching for families, including those running family businesses together. Her approach combines proven therapeutic methods with genuine warmth and cultural understanding, creating a safe space where clients feel truly seen and supported.

Adult Clinical Services Coordinator & Internship Training Coordinator; Staff Therapist
Kelly Dunn, LCPC (she/her)
Kelly Dunn is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor offering support for individuals, couples, and parents working through anxiety, OCD, depression, and the challenges of living with chronic illness or pain.
Kelly believes therapy works best when it’s a true partnership. She works with clients to create a plan based on the best available clinical research that fits specific situations, values, and goals. She practices a range of evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), and Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
For anyone struggling with overwhelming worry, navigating a difficult relationship, or learning to manage chronic health issues, Kelly brings both clinical expertise and genuine compassion to find a path forward.

Staff Psychologist (Therapy & Assessment)
Jazmin Lara, Ph.D. (she/her/ella)
Dr. Lara is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. She works with children, adolescents, young adults, and families navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, and other emotional and behavioral concerns. She also provides psychological assessment to help clients and families better understand their strengths, challenges, and unique ways of learning and functioning.
As a bilingual clinician born to immigrant parents, Dr. Lara understands the importance of considering culture, family, and identity in the therapeutic process. She has experience working with mixed-status families and provides services in both English and Spanish. Dr. Lara strives to create a space where all clients feel understood, respected, and empowered.
Dr. Lara’s approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based care. Whether through therapy, assessment, or parent support, she works alongside clients and families to build insight, develop practical skills, and create meaningful, lasting change.

Staff Therapist and Community Outreach Liaison, Supervised by Kelly Dunn, LCPC
Valerie Trewick, LPC (she/her)
Valerie is currently in her fourth year with Chicago Psychotherapy, where she completed her internship and a two-year advanced clinical fellowship before becoming a Staff Therapist. She is graduate of Northwestern University’s Master’s Program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Valerie specializes in helping people (ages 12+) navigate anxiety, depression, OCD, chronic stress, life transitions and relationship concerns. She is a skilled couples therapist, trained in both the Gottman Method and Cognitive Behavioral Couples Therapy.
Valerie creates a non-judgmental space where her clients can be completely honest about their struggles. She believes therapy should be collaborative and tailors her evidence-based approaches to fit the context of who her clients are and what they need. Her approach offers her clients insight and empowerment within a safe space, and her relational style uses curiosity, humor and compassion to foster authentic human connection. With extensive training in evidenced-based approaches to treating anxiety, mood disorders, and OCD, Valerie brings both expertise and genuine understanding to support her clients.

Staff Therapist
Hannah Bowen, LCSW (she/her)
Hannah Bowen is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in helping children, teens, and families heal from trauma and navigate difficult challenges like anxiety, ADHD, and major life changes.
With advanced training from the Yale Child Study Center and background in a range of clinical and educational settings, Hannah has nearly a decade of experience working with families in crisis, from trauma and loss to behavioral struggles and family conflicts. She uses evidence-based practices including Family Systems Therapy, Child and Family Traumatic Stress Intervention (CFTSI), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), and Parent Management Training (PMT).
Hannah believes that every person, nested in community, deserves an opportunity to feel safe, share their story, and have access to quality mental health treatment that meets their needs. Regardless of the issue at hand, Hannah brings both clinical expertise and genuine compassion to support her clients.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Marissa Post, LCSW
Marissa is a Licensed Certified Clinical Social Worker dedicated to supporting the well-being of children, adolescents, young adults, and families. She has supported clients across a range of clinical settings, including outpatient therapy, intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization programs, and her clinical internship at Johns Hopkins Hospital Children’s Center, where she provided crisis intervention, brief therapy, and family support across pediatric, psychiatry, oncology, and emergency settings.
Her clinical approach draws from a range of evidence-based treatment modalities – including CBT, DBT, ACT, ERP, SPACE and others – and her approach is always tailored to the unique needs of each client and family. Marissa has particular expertise working with anxiety, OCD, phobias, trauma, depression, life transitions, and neurodivergence, and is certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). Marissa has also served as a group therapist and social coach for the PEERS® social skills and Unstuck and On Target® executive functioning programs.
Warm, collaborative, and deeply committed to partnering with families throughout the therapeutic process, Marissa is currently accepting new clients, with immediate availability.

Maryam Zlitni, LPC (she/her/ella)
Maryam Zlitni is currently in her fourth year with Chicago Psychotherapy, where she completed her internship and a two-year advanced clinical fellowship before becoming a Staff Therapist. Maryam earned her MA in Counseling from Northwestern University. Her therapeutic style is client-centered, trauma informed, and collaborative. She has experience working with individuals of diverse identities and backgrounds, and believes in affirming the identities, lived experiences and cultural contexts of all of her clients.
Maryam works with clients across the lifespan, and has a particular passion for working with children, adolescents, and young adults. She frequently supports twice exceptional (2E) children and adolescents with emotional regulation, problem solving, and strength building. Maryam has received intensive training in evidence-based therapies for anxiety, mood disorders, OCD, ADHD and trauma.
Maryam believes in the importance of holistic, thoughtful, care and has a passion for health equity. She brings warmth, curiosity and genuine care to help her clients build on their strengths while developing the skills they need to thrive.

Director of Assessment Services and Staff Psychologist
Dr. Shelley Upton, PhD (she/her)
Dr. Upton is the Director of Assessment Services and a Staff Therapist at Chicago Psychotherapy, specializing in helping families understand autism, ADHD, learning differences, and other neurodevelopmental differences.
For individuals who might be on the autism spectrum, have ADHD, or learn differently, Dr. Upton provides thorough, compassionate evaluations that provide real answers and a clear path forward. Dr. Upton understands that getting the right diagnosis can be life-changing – opening doors to support, accommodations, and self-understanding.
Beyond assessment, Dr. Upton is also skilled in various research-supported treatments, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Parent Management Training (PMT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and social-emotional skills development. Her therapeutic approach focuses on building on strengths, developing practical skills, and creating strategies with real-world applications.

Post-Graduate Clinical Fellow, Supervised by Hannah Bowen, LCSW
Kennon Moon, LPC (she/her)
Kennon Moon is currently entering her third year with Chicago Psychotherapy, where she completed her clinical internship and is currently a second-year clinical fellow. Kennon earned her MA in Counseling from Northwestern University.
Kennon works with clients across the lifespan (ages 4 and up), with particular experience supporting children, teens, college students, and young adults through anxiety, ADHD, OCD, autism, trauma, grief, and life transitions. She also works closely with parents, offering parent support and family-focused interventions to help families navigate challenges together. As a former UPenn Division I lacrosse athlete, Kennon has firsthand experience with the pressures of high-level performance, and she brings that perspective to her work with athletes, students, and anyone navigating performance anxiety. Kennon takes a collaborative, strengths-based approach, drawing on evidence-based treatments including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure-Based CBT, Trauma-Focused CBT, and Parent Management Training. She is currently completing advanced training in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for trauma and CBT for Insomnia (CBT-I).
Kennon believes meaningful change begins with feeling understood. She creates a warm, authentic space where clients of all ages can be honest about their struggles, build real skills, and move forward with greater confidence and resilience.

Lifespan Clinical Intern, Supervised by Kelly Dunn, LCPC
Kelli Crispo (she/her)
Kelli Crispo (she/her) is a clinical intern completing her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Northwestern University. She works with tweens, adolescents and adults navigating depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, relationship challenges, identity development, emotional dysregulation, and life transitions.
Drawing from her background in clinical research on depression and well-being at Cornell University, Kelli integrates current empirical findings into thoughtful, evidence-informed care, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure-Based CBT, and Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT). She has additional experience in crisis intervention and in working with LGBTQ+ communities, which informs her culturally responsive, affirming, and collaborative therapeutic stance. Her approach is grounded in curiosity, compassion, and practical skill-building, helping clients move from feeling overwhelmed to feeling empowered.
Kelli creates a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their identities, deepen insight, and engage in meaningful problem-solving. She is trained in a range of evidence-based modalities and tailors interventions to meet each client’s unique goals and developmental needs. During her internship at Chicago Psychotherapy, Kelli is available to provide services to clients ages 10 and older.

Bilingual Child/Adolescent/Family Clinical Intern, Supervised by Ellen Bee, LCPC
Isabela Gonzalez-Rubio (she/her)
Isabela Gonzalez-Rubio is a clinical intern who works with children, adolescents, and young adults navigating anxiety, depression, emotional and behavioral challenges, life transitions, identity development and self-esteem. As a Hispanic/Latina bilingual clinician, Isabela values providing culturally responsive care and strives to create a therapeutic space where clients feel seen, understood, and supported.
Isabela has received specialized training in evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure Response Prevention, and Trauma-Focused CBT, to treat anxiety, mood disorders, OCD, and trauma. She is currently completing her graduate training in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Northwestern University, with a specialization in Child and Adolescent Counseling.
Before graduate school, Isabela worked with children and teenagers in eating disorder treatment centers and research settings, gaining meaningful experience supporting youth and families in both clinical and research environments. These experiences strengthened her passion for helping young people build healthier relationships with themselves and others.
Isabela approaches therapy with warmth, curiosity, and collaboration, tailoring her work to each client’s unique strengths, culture, and developmental needs. She is committed to creating a safe, compassionate, and empowering environment where clients aged 5+ and their families can build resilience, develop practical coping skills, and work toward meaningful, lasting change.

Child, Adolescent, and Family Track Clinical Intern, Supervised by Kate Robison, LCPC
Jordan Carmichael (she/her)
Jordan Carmichael is a clinical intern pursuing her Master of Social Work (MSW) at the University of Chicago Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice. She has over nine years of experience supporting children and adolescents across educational, behavioral, and therapeutic settings. Her background includes working as a preschool teacher, providing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and completing a school therapist internship, where she provided individual and group therapy to elementary and middle school students. She has also completed intensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure Response Prevention, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). These experiences and trainings have deepened her understanding of the unique emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs of young people.
Jordan believes meaningful change begins with a strong therapeutic relationship and strives to create a space where clients feel safe, understood, and empowered to be themselves. She values building trusting relationships with children and their families, while meeting each child where they are developmentally. Jordan has worked clinically with children and adolescents ages 4 and older, in both individual and group settings. She has experience supporting youth with anxiety, depression, autism, and a range of emotional and behavioral regulation challenges. She is particularly passionate about working with children ages 4-12. Her professional interests include anxiety, mood disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), Autism Spectrum Disorder, and supporting the development of social/interpersonal skills. Jordan is available to support children, adolescents, and their families during her internship at Chicago Psychotherapy.

Diana C. Juarez (she/her)
Diana C. Juarez (she/her) joined Chicago Psychotherapy in 2024 as our Intake Coordinator, and was promoted in 2026 to the role of Clinic Manager. Diana has a strong background in client intake processes and support. She values the opportunity to serve our clients and providers with the patience, empathy, and attention to detail. Diana is fluently bilingual as well and can offer both intakes and client administrative support in English and Spanish.
